How do I start a real-time translated conversation?
Tap New Conversation, select the language spoken by the other person and then tap the microphone to begin. Each person speaks in turn; PairaVoice detects pauses and displays translated text and audio automatically.
How do I read and hear translations in the chat-style interface?
Each spoken turn appears as a chat bubble showing the original text above its translation. Tap any bubble to replay the audio translation, or scroll up to review earlier parts of the conversation.
Can both people speak into the same device?
Yes. In single-device mode, pass the phone between speakers, or lay it flat on a table — PairaVoice automatically detects which language is being spoken and translates accordingly.
How do I use PairaVoice across two devices?
After tapping New Conversation, select We both have PairaVoice. You can then choose to host a new session or join an existing session.
If you host the session, a pop-up will display a unique session code. Share this code with the other speaker either directly or via SMS so they can join the conversation.
If you’re joining an existing session, ask the other speaker for their session code and enter it when prompted. Once connected, you can begin your conversation across both devices.

How do I set up my personalized digital voice?
Go to Settings > Your Digital Voice Setup and follow the guided recording prompts to capture a short voice sample. PairaVoice uses this sample to generate a voice print so your translated speech sounds like you, not a generic text-to-speech voice.
How does voice cloning work in PairaVoice?
PairaVoice's voice cloning (powered by ElevenLabs) analyzes your recorded voice sample to create a synthetic voice model that matches your tone and cadence. This model is then used to generate translated audio playback in your own voice, across any supported language.
How do I enable hands-free mode with earbuds?
Connect your Bluetooth earbuds to your phone as usual, then open PairaVoice — hands-free mode activates automatically when compatible earbuds are connected. You can start and stop listening using your earbuds' native controls where supported.
How do I turn on background noise cancellation?
In Settings and toggle Noise Cancellation on. This is optional and recommended for busy clinical, classroom, or public settings — note that it may slightly slow down translation speed in exchange for improved accuracy.
Why isn't PairaVoice picking up my voice clearly?
Check that your microphone isn't obstructed and that app permissions for microphone access are enabled in your device settings. Try enabling noise cancellation if you're in a loud environment, and speak at a natural pace with clear pauses between sentences, especially in batch mode.
Languages
Which of the 16+ languages does PairaVoice support?
Supported languages include English, Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, French, German, Korean, Vietnamese, Italian, Polish, Cantonese, and Tagalog. Full list and any additions are maintained in-app under Settings > Native Language.
How do I add or change a conversation language mid-session?
At any point during a conversation, tap the three dots in the bottom-left corner of the conversation screen to open Settings. From there, use the language selector to change your source or target language. Previous chat bubbles will remain in the original language pair, while new messages will use your updated language selection.
Does PairaVoice support regional dialects or accents?
PairaVoice's underlying AI engines are trained to handle a range of accents and regional speech patterns, though accuracy may vary by dialect. If you consistently experience recognition issues with a specific accent, switching AI models (Settings > Voice Recognition Model and Translation Model) may improve results.
