How to Translate & Transcribe Audio Files with Pairaphrase

This article explains how to transcribe or translate audio and video files in Pairaphrase.

With Pairaphrase, you can now translate and transcribe audio and video files. Whether you’re working with an interview, training session, podcast, or classroom recording, you can upload audio or video files and quickly receive:

  • A transcription of your audio (same language as the recording).
  • A translated transcription (text in your chosen target language).

Pairaphrase currently supports MP3, MP4, and WAV files for this feature.

Step 1: Upload Your Audio or Video File

  1. Log into your Pairaphrase account.
  2. Go to the File Translator.
  3. Click Upload and select your file (MP3, MP4, or WAV).
  4. Choose the source language (the language spoken in the recording).
  5. Select the target language(s) you want the text transcribed or translated into.

Step 2: Review & Edit in the File Editor

Once your file has been processed, you’ll be taken to the Pairaphrase File Editor.

Here, you can:

  • Review the transcription or translation side by side with the source text.
  • Make edits directly in the editor to improve accuracy or adjust wording.
  • Save your changes — all edits are automatically stored in your Translation Memory for future use.

Step 3: Download Your Results

Once processing is complete, you can download your results as a text file.

  • Same-language transcription → A text file of the spoken content in the original language.
  • Translated transcription → A text file of the spoken content translated into your selected target language(s).

Your files remain secure within the Pairaphrase platform, protected by enterprise-grade encryption.
