This article explains how to set a preferred tone for translations using the DeepL engine in your user profile.
When using the DeepL translation engine in Pairaphrase, users can choose from three tone settings to match the style of their translated text. This is particularly useful when the tone of communication matters—such as in formal communications, casual messages, or public-facing content.
Available Tone Settings
- Default:
This is DeepL’s standard tone setting. Use this for general-purpose translations where no specific tone is required. - Formal:
Produces translations that use more polite or structured phrasing. Ideal for professional communication, academic content, or any context requiring respectful language. - Informal:
Translations will use a more casual, conversational style. Great for internal team communication, casual emails, or consumer-friendly content.
How to Change the Tone Setting
To update your DeepL tone preference:
- Go to your User Profile in the Pairaphrase dashboard
- Locate the DeepL Tone section
- Choose one of the available options from the dropdown menu:
- Default
- Formal
- Informal - Your selection will apply to all translations using DeepL going forward
Note: This setting only applies when DeepL is selected as your translation engine.
This feature helps you tailor translations to better fit the communication style of your audience—whether formal, informal, or neutral.
