How do I migrate from Smartcat to Pairaphrase?

Whether you’re an LSP, in-house team, or independent translator, you can quickly get up and running on Pairaphrase with your existing data.

Pairaphrase is a cloud-based translation management system focused on speed, security, collaboration, and enterprise privacy. While Smartcat offers a translator marketplace, Pairaphrase is ideal for organizations with pre-selected linguists or in-house teams who need greater control, compliance, and customization.

What can you migrate from Smartcat?

You can bring the following assets into Pairaphrase:

Translation Memories (TMX format)
Glossaries/Termbases (CSV format)

Migration steps

1. Export your Translation Memory from Smartcat

Go to your Resources > Translation Memories section
Select your TM and choose Export to TMX
Save the file to your local drive

2. Export your Glossary

Navigate to your Glossaries
Choose Export, then select CSV format

3. Import into Pairaphrase

Log in to your Pairaphrase account
Go to Translation Memory > Import TMX File
Go to Glossary > Import CSV File
Your imported resources will now be applied during translation

4. Translate documents in Pairaphrase

Upload supported file types directly (DOCX, PDF, XLIFF, etc.)
Select your language pair and preferred MT engine
Use the Translation Editor to post-edit and collaborate in real-time
