How do I migrate from SDL Trados Studio to Pairaphrase?

Pairaphrase is a cloud-based translation management system (TMS) designed for speed, simplicity, and collaboration. Unlike desktop-based tools like Trados Studio, Pairaphrase allows you to work securely from any device, with real-time collaboration, AI assistance, and automatic translation memory updates.

What you can bring over from Trados Studio

When migrating, here’s what you can transfer and reuse in Pairaphrase:

• Translation Memories (TMX format)

Migration steps

1. Export your Translation Memory from Trados

• In Trados Studio, open your TM
• Go to File > Export and choose TMX format
• Save the file to your computer
  
  

2. Export your Glossary (Termbase)

• In MultiTerm or within your project settings, export your glossary as a CSV file
  
  

3. Upload your TM and Glossary to Pairaphrase

• Log in to your Pairaphrase account
• Go to Translation Memory and click Import TMX File
  
• Do the same under Glossary for your CSV file
• These will now be used when translating
  
  

4. Translate files in the cloud

• Upload supported documents to Pairaphrase (DOCX, PDF, XLIFF, etc.)
• Select your source and target language
• Choose your preferred translation engine
• Begin post-editing in the collaborative Translation Editor
